LME

I wanted a professional hair care product that actually worked and improved the hair’s condition and that didn’t have alcohol, parabens, preservatives, or any kind of harsh ingredients. The result is a product that not only works but also restores nourished, youthful hair and enhances growth because I use nature inspired ingredients.

First, there is no water in the products (except for Phase 4) because water creates bacteria. You, instead, use the water from the shower. My products has natural ingredients made from nature not natural ingredients made from chemicals. You don’t have to wash as often because you no longer have chemicals drying out the scalp and hair. I use essential oils versus fragrance. I chose ingredients that coordinate with nature. LME is truly inspired by nature.

Mr. M.

LME took me 15 years to develop. Five of those was figuring out how to get my shampoo to foam without using chemicals. I then took my product to California, January 2020 to a professional cosmetology conference. I walked in and was shocked at what has happened to my beloved industry. I cried for two days. It was so commercial-focused versus quality and design focused. But I did see one thing—men were purchasing product instead of women. I knew this was the area to focus in on.

Men care about grooming and if you give them a good product with little direction, they will buy it, use it, and be loyal. I used the same LME formula but created the fragrance (again from essential oils) so that it’s manly. It’s also a 4-in-1 that can be used for hair, face, beard, and body. And it helps with acne and razor burn.

How it all got started

When I think back trying to remember how I started this amazing and quite humbling journey, I recall being 13-years-old walking down the sidewalk when a thought came to me, “I want to be a hairdresser and style celebrities’ hair.” I ran home, found my little sister and turned on the television. We’d watch Audrey Hepburn movies and then I’d practice “styling” my little sister’s hair based on what I saw on TV. In my young heart, I knew my calling and my future.

I enrolled in art classes in Sacramento, CA. After two years, I realized there was no way to make a living in art. But I loved to design. I also discovered I didn’t want to be a hairdresser either after enrolling in beauty school. My instructor recommended a school of cosmetology. I was accepted into Federico Beauty Institute and received a degree in design in cosmetology. Before I even graduated, my best friend became my manager and got me my first “big” job, which was doing makeup for the Super Bowl halftime show in Oakland, CA in 1984!

I’ve had the honor of working with greats, such as Steven Spielberg (designing Alfalfa for the 1996 movie), Oliver Stone’s JFK film, Baywatch, Don King, and more. I became an expert in the “pageant look” and have worked with several pageant winners in both Miss America and Miss USA as well as five Hawaiian Tropic winners. And I’ve worked with models from the Ford Modeling Agency.

Here I am, 30 years later, Celebrity Hairdresser 1990’s, Published Make-up Artist 1990’s, NCA Committee Member 1988-92, New Mexico Educational Provider and 15 years designing Lisa May Eco Hair Care and Cosmetics. What a journey!

My first design love…

I fell in love with Jheri Redding in school. Not romantically but professionally! He was the first to start manufacturing professional hair care and a pioneer in the science of restoring hair back to its natural way with really good ingredients. I’ve always loved chemistry and how ingredients interact with our hair and skin. He was one of the very first designers working all over the world.

Over the years of working with clients, I didn’t want to just style my clients’ hair. I wanted to create the look my client desired and then teach them how to maintain it with proper hair care. I did the same thing with my makeup and skin care clients. This is what made me famous in my industry—educating my clients so that the money they invested into their hair gave them the look they desired, lasted longer, and actually restored their hair. It’s the philosophy of taking the time to maintain the integrity of the hair.

I’m here to improve the hairdresser’s work with products that makes the client’s hair look young again—groomed and beautiful.
